FAQ — Big Kahuna Contracting

Question 1

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

We primarily serve Orillia, Muskoka, and the surrounding area — including Gravenhurst, Bracebridge, Huntsville, Severn, Barrie, and beyond. If you're unsure whether we cover your location, just give us a call.

Question 2

Are you licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Big Kahuna Contracting is fully licensed and carries comprehensive liability insurance and WSIB coverage. We're happy to provide proof of insurance before any work begins.

Question 3

What size of projects do you take on?

Accepted Answer

We handle everything from small repairs and renovations to full custom home builds and commercial construction. No job is too small if it's the right fit, and we have the crew and equipment to scale up for large projects.

Question 4

Do you have a referral program?

Accepted Answer

Yes! We reward clients who refer new customers to us. Ask us about the details when you get in touch, or check our Referral Program Terms page for the full breakdown.

Question 5

Do you offer free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we provide free on-site estimates for all projects. We'll come out, assess the scope of work, and give you a clear, detailed quote with no obligation.

Question 6

How long does it take to receive a quote?

Accepted Answer

We typically follow up within 1–3 business days after an on-site visit. For larger or more complex projects, it may take a bit longer to put together an accurate and thorough estimate.

Question 7

Can the price change after the quote is given?

Accepted Answer

We do our best to provide accurate, fixed-price quotes. Occasionally, unforeseen conditions (like hidden water damage or structural issues discovered during demolition) can affect the final cost. We always communicate any changes before proceeding and get your approval first.

Question 8

What are your payment terms?

Accepted Answer

Payment schedules vary by project size. Typically we require a deposit to secure your start date, with progress payments tied to project milestones, and a final payment upon completion. We'll outline everything clearly in your contract.

Question 9

How long will my project take?

Accepted Answer

Timelines depend on the scope of work. A bathroom renovation might take 1–2 weeks, while a full addition or new build can take several months. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront and keep you updated throughout the project.

Question 10

Do you handle permits?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We manage the permit process on your behalf for projects that require municipal approval. We're familiar with local building codes and work closely with inspectors to keep things moving.

Question 11

Will you keep the job site clean?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We take pride in leaving job sites clean and organized at the end of every workday. Our clients consistently mention this in their reviews — it's something we take seriously.

Question 12

How do you keep clients informed during a project?

Accepted Answer

We believe in proactive communication. You'll hear from us when milestones are hit, when decisions need to be made, and any time something unexpected comes up. We won't leave you guessing about what's happening on your property.

Question 13

Do you use subcontractors?

Accepted Answer

For specialized trades like electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, we work with trusted, licensed subcontractors we've built relationships with over the years. All work is coordinated and overseen by our team.

Question 14

Do you supply materials or do I need to source them?

Accepted Answer

We typically supply all materials as part of the project quote. If you have specific products or finishes in mind, we're happy to accommodate — just let us know during the estimate stage.

Question 15

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We stand behind our craftsmanship. Warranty terms vary by project type and are outlined in your contract. If something isn't right after we're done, we'll make it right.
